News
I am excited to announce that I have been offered and have accepted the position of Assistant Professor of Music at Denison University. Denison is ranked among the top liberal arts colleges in the country and the music department is full of talent and creative thinkers! Among the department’s 22 ensembles are 4 thriving bluegrass bands! Perhaps I will be able to offer a major in music with the hammered dulcimer as a primary instrument one of these days...
I will be teaching trumpet, music theory and conducting the Wind Ensemble. I hope to continue working with the bluegrass bands in some capacity if my scheduling allows.
In other news...I am going to work feverishly to finish the "15 Minutes a Day" CD when Denison is on break in a few weeks. This will be a tremendous practice aid to accompany the book and guide the listener through my 15 minute warm-up routine for dulcimer. Each exercise will have tracks played at slow, medium, and fast tempi. The accompaniments themselves will provide the melody along with creative and rhythmic choral patterns to make each exercise rhythmically precise and interesting to hear.
